Summer Hosting Tips

SWEET SUMMER TIME

As summer is approaching alfresco dining is becoming more appealing. If you are needing help with how to host your guests outside without having to revert to paper plates and carrot sticks then this post is for you.

LOCATION
Firstly, it is important to decide on a location. This is where your outdoor table will be. Are you wanting chairs around a wooden table? Or a Moroccan style picnic in a sea of pillows and ornate rugs?

By choosing your location it will be easy to decide what menu to plan. Picnic dining probably is best accompanied by charcuterie style meals, while table dining can allow for ‘messier’ foods.

LIGHT

Eating outside is a MOOD. And if you choose to dine in the earlier evening you will most likely be lingering after the sun has set, so make sure you have candles or lanterns to assist your dinner party guests.

TIP : If your climate is prone to outdoor pests, make sure some of your candles can repel any unwanted visitors.

MUSIC

Every dinner party needs music. Before your guests arrive make sure you check out our “Galerie House” playlists on Spotify to see what will best match your outdoor dining experience.

TEXTURE

Texture will add subtle dynamics to your dinner party. Texture can come in the form of blankets on the chairs or flowers on the table. Try creating different levels with candle sticks and vases to bring easy depth to your gathering.

By following these four easy steps, you will definitely be able to execute your perfect summer dinner party! Always remember as the host to be relaxed, well prepped and planned, and greet your guests with a drink (Mojoto? Martini?) in hand.
